One of the classical symbols of Man trapped in ignorance is the symbol of a deer which looks everywhere for fragrance, beauty and opportunity, roaming the forests here and there, only to become tired and overwhelmed and to realise that the real fragrance: the deer musk was always within. This mythic model is found in many cultures, like the story of Job finding diamonds within, or the opening of the door to the heart in Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism.
