Michele RONCHI Secretary of MEDICI Framework located in Milano
Italy, due to his track record in new media research and his
activity addressed to foster a fruitful use of advanced technologies
for access to, understanding, preservation and economic exploitation
of cultural heritage, has been appointed by Ranjit Makkuni President
of the SACRED WORLD FOUNDATION located in San Francisco and
Director of the Sacred World Research Lab in New Delhi India,
Member of the Scientific Committee of the non-profit SACRED
WORLD FOUNDATION. The SACRED WORLD
FOUNDATION is a leading interdisciplinary research and design
think tank which is building bridges between ancient and modern
cultures. The Foundation achieves these objectives through
a research and development programme that spans basic research
in new interfaces, to digital documentation of major civilisations
of the world, to innovative forms of dissemination including
exhibits and multimedia publications. Current focus of the
Foundation’s programming is related: to culturally rooted
computing aimed at making ICT useful in the context of developing
nations, to innovative documentation of Goddess traditions,
to new forms of interfaces that enhance people’s appreciation
of culture, aesthetics and creative expression.
