Mumbai: Filmmaker Shyam Benegal who directed the Making of a Mahatma, was the apt choice to inaugurate an exbhition called Eternal Gandhi at the National Gallery of Modern Art on Gandhiji. It is the first hi-tech journey into Gandhian values. There's a kaleidoscope which tells the story of Gandhiji as seen by underprivileged students, an e-charkha that documents Gandhianvalues, a unity tree that lights up and a pillar that requires us to stand up and be united. Conceived and visualized by the Sacred World Foundation, a research and design think-tank, this was one exhibition that takes a multimedia journey into the Mahatma's life. |

"This exhibition is more meaningful than my film. It gives so much to the new generation so that they can catch up with the past and get their values right," says Benegal. President, Sacred World Foundation, Ranjit Makkuni says, "I have used the medium of multimedia to bring Gandhi to today's generation." The Laser Charkha belts out Saare Jahan Se Achha and it doesn't matter if you're not in tune with music. There is a Raghupati Xylophone that will play the devotional song Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram no matter how bad you are at it! After his return from South Africa, Gandhiji set out on a train journey to rediscover India and now people can take the same routes that Gandhiji took via the e-train. Spread out on three storeys of the National Gallery of Modern Art the exhibition will be on till March 12.
